The Head of the Table
One hour onhow you built it.
I love talking to business owners and leaders in our community, and hearing how they built what they run. So I'm starting a podcast. Once a week, one of them will sit down with me for about an hour. You bring the story, and we handle the cameras, the edit and the posting.
Already talked to Levi? Email us and we'll book your Thursday.
- Recorded
- One guest a week, Thursdays in Windsor or over video
- Your time
- 90 minutes, once
- Pitches on air
- None
What an hour on the show gets you.
-
Your story, filmed and in front of other owners and leaders.
The full episode goes on YouTube. We cut four to six short clips and post them tagged to you, and I write a LinkedIn post about your episode. I have about 4,500 LinkedIn connections, most of them in Windsor-Essex.
-
An hour about you.
Fire protection only comes up if you bring it up. Nobody gets pitched on the show.
-
An introduction, if you want one.
I like connecting people who should know each other. If there's someone in the community you'd like to meet, tell me and I'll make the introduction if I can.
Why I'm starting it
I love hearing how people built it.
Every owner and leader I've talked business with has taught me something. Sometimes it's a pricing fix, sometimes a hiring rule, and sometimes just a phone number.
Plenty of people in Windsor-Essex are building good businesses and have never met. This show is how I'll get to know them, and how they'll get to know each other.
What happens after you apply.
-
We pick a Thursday.
My team gets back to you within two business days to book a date. Out of town? We'll set up a video call instead.
-
A 10-minute call, a week out.
We go over logistics and three topics, and ask about one thing you're proud of. If you're coming in, we'll get your coffee order too.
-
Recording day.
Come to the studio in Windsor 15 minutes early and plan on 90 minutes. The conversation runs about an hour, and an hour goes by fast.
-
A thank-you within 24 hours.
I'll call or email you myself to say thanks.
-
Your episode goes out.
Episodes post on YouTube, with clips on LinkedIn. We'll tell you your date ahead of time so you can share it.
Who makes a good guest.
Owners and leaders from any kind of business. A plumbing company, a software startup, a plant, a law firm, a portfolio of buildings. Southwestern Ontario comes first, but a good story from anywhere gets a yes.
You don't need to be a big name. You need to have built something or led people, and be willing to share what you learned along the way.
Four questions before you say yes.
- What if I sound bad?
- We edit out the ums, the false starts and the long pauses, and cut between cameras. You'll sound like yourself on a good day.
- I've never done a podcast, and I don't have much time.
- Most owners haven't. Plan on 90 minutes, once, plus a 10-minute call a week out. You'll know the three topics before you sit down, and we handle the cameras, the edit and the posting.
- Do I have to talk about money?
- Only the numbers you're comfortable with. If you say "skip that one," we skip it.
- What do you get out of this?
- I love talking to business owners and leaders, and I want to know the people building good businesses here. Some of those conversations will turn into friendships, referrals or work down the road. None of that is a condition of coming on.
